“Using the weak to lead the strong”
Matthew 1:18-2:18
God uses the opposite of what we would expect.
-Philemon 1:21- -Matthew 20:25-28- -Matthew 10:39-
When Christ came everyone had to give up something.
God sent a baby to defeat sin and death. That baby, Christ, had to give up the comfort of heaven and perfectness.
Mary and Joseph had to give us their reputation (because she had a baby before they were married). Are we willing to give up our reputation for God?
Hared was an awful, mean, nasty man. Hared had to give up his comfort when the three wise men asked where Jesus was. He was probably man. His anger also affected Jerusalem.
The people of Jerusalem had to give up their peace. Their baby boys were murdered.
The Magi gave up their time and supplies just to find the Messiah.

Jesus comes and babies die. All of this happened just so Jesus could come. Everyone had to give something up.
If you’re going to follow Christ think about all the things people had to give up. We have to give something up for Jesus. He says in His word that we have to give our lives for Him –Philemon 2:1-11-. Even Jesus had to give something up. He no longer was in heaven with His father. He came to earth to “play by our rules.” All so we could have eternal life with Him. He humbled himself. God also, had to give up His son so He could die for our sins.
Don’t keep. Give of yourself.
