Hebrews 10:39
If you isolate context you can make the bible say whatever you want it to say. Example: Judas went out and hung himself. (in a different verse) Jesus said go and do likewise.>commit suicide. That is totally taken out of context.
Apostasies> one who withdrew from the faith> is no longer a Christian.
Vs. 30> Vengeance is mine…> saying God will take vengeance on one who is a non-Christian. Vs. 29-30> is an individual that shrinks back.
Vs. 34-35> if someone comes in and takes all your worldly possessions know that the one thing they cannot take away is your salvation> they may persecute you and make a public scene but they can’t take your salvation away, they cannot take your relationship away.
We were freed from the bondage that we were in before but we may not do whatever we want. We are no longer in charge of our life; we did not pay for redemption/ the consequence of our sin. Christ did, He owns us.
Vs, 32> He says remember back to those days when you were first saved and you were on fire.
Vs39 (the only verb (we, are)) those who shrink back are a group of people. He is saying that they are of one who set across a great ocean but then faces the storm. They lower the sails> they will be destroyed by the storm.
But we are not of this group. We stay progressing forward, we keep the sail up.
Parepoiasis – of your possession.
We are the parepoiasis of Jesus Christ, we do not have the right to lower the sail. John 3:16, Romans 1:16> who so ever believes> mistranslation> who so ever is believing> pos hos pesu ohn> it’s a continual relationship.
(some of these words are greek or hebrew words and I could not figure out how to spell them, so don't quote me on those.)
