Hebrews 11:1-2
Faith
Philemon 1:27> living life by the gospel. Faith in vs. 1 is presented so real. The assurance of things hoped for not you will receive all kinds of things and be wealthy. And If you don’t, people (like the charismatics) tell you that you didn’t have enough faith. <That is not real faith.
Tillioho (tilly-ah-hoe) – brought to completion. This happened when Jesus died.
Pistis – Faith vs. 1
The gospel is what gives believers their confidence because of what Christ did for us on the cross (demonstrated). Faith is the essence of hoping (expecting your salvation) hope is the foundation; faith is what the foundation stands on.
I am to expect salvation< for the Christian< you should be expecting to be conformed to the image of Christ and to be separated from the world. Faith is what gives evidence that I have salvation. Faith = assurance.
A life that says “your will be don father” is a life that demonstrates faith. You must be living a life that is of God’s will not your own. Christ saves individuals to glorify Himself. The gospel is about God’s self-glorification.
Vs. 1b conviction is proof for things not seen. Vs. 2 men of old obtained their witness.
The Old Testament people who had faith that Christ was going to come in a future time. Our witness is ruined if we disobey.
Is it ok to not look like the image of Christ as a Christian? NO
(some of these words are greek or hebrew words and I could not figure out how to spell them, so don't quote me on those.)
