1 John 2:1-2

Protonostics believes that everything that is matter is evil and everything that is spirit is good. So basically they were saying that you can sin all you want because you are already evil and no matter what you do you spirit, which is good, will still go to heaven. They were proclaiming this to John’s audience. John proclaimed that they had no right to talk about Jesus that way (they were saying that because He proclaimed to be fully man (flesh) that he could not be fully God because flesh is evil). John was defending Jesus saying they didn’t even know Him therefore they had no right to talk about Him like that. John says if you live like the nostics you are a liar, don’t call yourself a Christian. There is a commitment to constant living, a commitment to Christian living. We have no license to sin. Romans 6:1-2. Non-Christian = living in sin. Christian = living in Christ. Romans 6 – don’t abuse grace, use grace. Comforter = advocate. Paraclatos (para-ca-dos) an advocate for somebody else to comfort them, to help them, to aid them.

(some of these words are greek or hebrew words and I could not figure out how to spell them, so don't quote me on those.)
