“When The Ring Remains…”
Part 2
Esther 9:16-19
Unlike the story of Haman, the flesh never dies. We must be vigilant daily making sure that the ring is placed on Mordecai not Haman. Just like in VS 8:2 when the ring is taken off Haman’s finger before he was hung is placed on Mordecai’s finger.
3. There Will Be Crucifixion VS 5, 10, 15-16
Though they were free to take their enemies goods, they didn’t because it would hurt their witness and their walk. Look back at when the Israelites were allowed to take their enemies plunder, they always seemed to mess up with it. Possessions began to consume more of their life (golden calf).
4. There will be Conflict VS 1-3
-2 Timothy 3:12- This is what will happen if you allow the ring to remain on Mordecai’s finger. “Scars are the price of which every believer pays for being alive to Christ.” As a Christian we are always occupied territory and the Holy Spirit comes to take up residence but the dictator, the flesh, is always going to find a reason to take it back.
5. There will be Celebration VS 17-19 & 26
Grumbling and complaining means the ring is on the flesh, joy and celebration means the ring is on the Holy Spirit’s finger. –Ephesians 5:18-20- “If we’re not enjoying the Christian life then we’re enduring the Christian life, there is no other option.” – Dr. John Blanchard
Purim (Assyrian word, not Hebrew) comes from the casting of lots. Literally means lottery day. The Jews had a lottery day when Haman was overcome.
