Ephesians 4:1-16
Finding our Identity in Christ
“Brothers and Sisters”
Vs. 1 Paul qualifies himself, he is writing from a place of lowliness (chains). He was writing about something he truly believed, he was in jail because of it.
Vs. 2 explains how we can love our brothers and sisters (in Christ).
Vs. 3 Everything Paul is saying points back to Jesus
Vs. 4 he explains why. Everyone is equal. Help each other out; you can’t do it on your own.
Vs. 8-10 Our old foundation (sin) is destroyed and replaced by Christ.
Vs. 11 We all have a different job. The pastors, teachers, & evangelists were sent out to prepare us (the body of Christ). Matthew 28:18-20 is our job. <Proverbs 27:17>
Vs. 13 Our goal, to be like Jesus. There is a blueprint; God has a plan for us.
Vs. 15 We need to love one another.
Vs. 16 Hold the body together.
